Job summary

Magnus James in Huddersfield is seeking an experienced Senior Property Manager to lead a busy property management team within our well-established estate agency. You will oversee a portfolio of around 1,900 properties, drive service levels, and mentor junior staff, while using Reapit to keep records accurate.

This role offers a flexible 4 or 5 day week, a competitive salary of £30-32k, and a supportive environment where you can step into a senior position and shape the department's future.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing a team within the property management department, providing support and direction on a day-to-day basis.
• Managing and overseeing a portfolio of approximately 1,900 managed properties, ensuring excellent levels of service.
• Handling complex property management issues and supporting the wider team as needed.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with landlords and keeping them informed throughout the management process.
• Managing disputes between landlords, tenants and other parties.
• Monitoring maintenance queries and overseeing urgent and complex maintenance issues.
• Ensuring effective communication between property managers and clients to maintain high levels of service.
• Ensuring properties comply with relevant legislation and regulations and processes are followed.
• Overseeing routine maintenance and ensuring works are progressed efficiently.
• Supporting tenancy notices, end of tenancy processes and deposit matters as required.
• Providing coaching and support to less experienced team members to improve performance.
• Monitoring workloads and prioritising work to keep the department efficient.
• Using Reapit to maintain accurate records and portfolio management.
• Staying hands-on while providing senior-level support and leadership.
• Occasionally attending properties for complex issues.

Your role as a Senior Property Manager:

• Overseeing a team within the property management department, providing support, guidance and direction on a day-to-day basis
• Managing and overseeing a portfolio of approximately 1,900 managed properties, ensuring excellent levels of service are maintained
• Taking responsibility for complex property management issues and providing support to the wider team when required
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with landlords, providing advice and keeping them informed throughout the management process
• Managing disputes and resolving issues between landlords, tenants and other associated parties
• Supporting the team with maintenance queries, including overseeing urgent and complex maintenance issues where required
• Overseeing the communication between property managers and clients, ensuring the highest levels of customer service are maintained
• Ensuring properties remain compliant with relevant legislation and regulations, working closely with the team to ensure all necessary processes are followed
• Overseeing routine and reactive maintenance and ensuring works are progressed efficiently
• Supporting the team with tenancy notices, end of tenancy processes and deposit matters where required
• Providing coaching, guidance and support to less experienced members of the team, helping them to develop and perform effectively
• Monitoring workloads and ensuring the department operates efficiently, with work appropriately prioritised and delegated
• Using Reapit to maintain accurate records and manage the property portfolio effectively
• Remaining hands‑on within the department while providing senior-level support and leadership to the team
• Although predominantly office based, attending properties when necessary to deal with particularly complex issues

What we're looking for from a Senior Property Manager:

• Previous experience in residential property management is essential – ideally as a Senior Property Manager, or an experienced Property Manager ready to take their next step
• Experience working with a sizeable managed portfolio and a strong understanding of the day-to-day property management process
• Some previous experience supporting, mentoring or overseeing other members of a team would be advantageous
• Strong communication and people skills – build lasting relationships with landlords, tenants and colleagues
• A proactive, organised approach with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy workload
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the confidence to take ownership of complex issues
• Solid IT skills and ideally experience using Reapit, although training can be provided for the right candidate
• A good understanding of property management legislation, compliance and best practice
• A well‑presented and professional approach
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• A driving licence and access to your own vehicle would be advantageous due to the occasional requirement to attend properties
