Siemens Mobility UK is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of Telecoms, Networks, SCADA and SISS for Mainline, Light Rail and Mass Transit railways. You will oversee all Application Engineering, Installation, Testing and Commissioning to meet contract requirements, on time and within budget.

The role involves mobilising the business unit and aligning to RI readiness in Ireland, with travel to client and supplier meetings and potential local recruitment.

Qualifications

  • Extensive project management and business management experience.
  • Experience delivering high value capital investment projects with strong client interface in rail signalling.
  • Delivery of projects or portfolios through full lifecycle.
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience with project controls: planning, estimating, financial and commercial management.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety statutory obligations.
  • Proven ability to maintain margins in competitive environments.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and implement mitigations early.
  • Experience budgeting and expenditure control on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provide safe delivery of the portfolio to as-sold spec on time and budget.
  • Establish and maintain safe and environmental management across projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Client throughout project lifecycles.
  • Monitor progress against schedule and budget, mitigating variances.
  • Implement Change Management processes and approve scope changes.
  • Drive continuous improvement across portfolio projects and sponsor efficiency initiatives.

In our Communication and Information Systems (CIS) business, we deliver Rail Infrastructure systems for customers across the UK and internationally. Our portfolio includes the provision of event driven control and monitoring solutions tailored for Centralised SCADA & Line-wide systems, Stations & Utilities, Power SCADA, Control Systems, Tunnel Ventilation, M&E, and many more. We undertake the full engineering delivery life cycle across various projects.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Manager to join our Siemens Rail Infrastructure, Communication Information Systems business. We are flexible on location for this role, preferred locations would include; Ashby De-La-Zouch and the Midlands with travel to Ireland.

Your role of Senior Project Manager will be to lead the delivery of specified projects for Telecoms, Networks, SCADA and SISS for Mainline, Light Rail and Mass Transit railways within the Delivery Organisation. This will involve the management of all project Application Engineering, Installation, Testing and Commissioning activity and delivery of all systems designed to meet the needs of the contract, on time and within budget.

In addition, a key part of the role will be to lead the business unit mobilisation and alignment to the broader RI readiness in Ireland. Travel to client and supplier meetings will be required, with the intent to recruit locally.

  • Providing safe delivery of the portfolio, to the 'as sold' specification meeting the specific project objectives within agreed timescales and budget delivering the maximum margin, whilst ensuring that the Business Management System is applied throughout the project lifecycle
  • Being recognised as a Safety Leader in the Portfolio
  • Ensuring that effective Safety and Environmental management of the projects has been implemented and is being maintained; ensuring that each of the project delivery functions has systems in place to cover its safety requirements. The SPM shall ensure that regular audits are undertaken to ensure that the systems are in use and are effective
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Client throughout specific project lifecycles
  • Monitoring progress against specific project programme and budget, identifying and mitigating diverse trends through effective corrective management action
  • Ensuring the implementation of the Change Management Process and the approval of any changes to scope, base lined programmes and budgets is being maintained by project managers
  • Seeking continuous improvement with all portfolio projects and proactively sponsor initiatives to improve the way in which the projects are delivered
What you’ll need to succeed..
  • Extensive project management and business management experience
  • Management of high value capital investment projects involving a high degree of Client interface, within the Rail Signalling industry
  • Delivery of project or portfolios through the full project life cycle
  • Management and integration of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Management of Project Control function covering Planning, Estimating, Financial Control and commercial management disciplines
  • Management of company compliance with local Health and Safety statutory obligations
  • Ability to maintain margin in a competitive customer environment
  • Ability to anticipate problems and to take mitigating actions in advance of the problem being realised
  • Financial Control: Experience of managing expenditure and control of budgets within a project environment
