Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Manchester is recruiting Construction Managers to lead the safe, efficient delivery of rail infrastructure projects. You will manage construction, installation, commissioning and handover, coordinating teams, subcontractors and suppliers.

The role emphasizes safety, quality and cost control with a focus on building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. A pre-employment medical assessment is required, and the candidate will hold an IRSE licence or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of construction and installation activities, managing project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to meet safety, quality, programme and cost objectives.
  • Drive project controls: planning, budgeting, reporting, risk management and resource utilisation.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders as the main site contact.
  • Champion safety and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with procedures and standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance, conduct audits, and ensure site works and documentation meet requirements.
  • Oversee site progress through to handover, providing leadership and clear communication.

We are recruiting for Construction Managers to lead the safe, efficient and successful delivery of rail infrastructure construction projects. In this role, you will be responsible for managing construction activities from planning through to installation, commissioning and handover, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, cost and performance while building strong relationships with customers, contractors and project stakeholders.

This role is classified as safety critical and is subject to a pre-employment medical assessment, which must be successfully completed prior to start.

You will make a difference by...
  • Leading the delivery of construction and installation activities, managing project teams, subcontractors and suppliers to achieve safety, quality, programme and cost objectives.
  • Driving effective project controls, including planning, budgeting, reporting, risk management, change control and resource utilisation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Building strong relationships with customers, contractors and internal stakeholders, acting as the primary point of contact for site construction and interface matters.
  • Championing a positive safety and environmental culture, ensuring compliance with company procedures, industry standards and all health, safety and environmental requirements.
  • Monitoring supplier and subcontractor performance, conducting audits and inspections, and ensuring all site works, equipment and documentation meet contractual and quality requirements.
  • Overseeing site progress through to successful completion and handover, providing leadership, performance management and clear communication across the construction team.

Your role profile may vary from time to time in accordance with business needs. Your annual objective setting with your line manager will outline any additional responsibilities required to meet business or individual development needs for the forthcoming financial year.

What you'll need to succeed...
  • Proven experience managing construction, installation or infrastructure projects within the rail, signalling, civil engineering or a related engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of project and contract management principles, including planning, budgeting, risk management, change control and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across customers, suppliers, subcontractors and project teams.
  • Demonstrable commitment to health, safety and environmental excellence, with experience fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring regulatory and procedural compliance.
  • Installation Manager IRSE licence, or significant signalling and/or civil engineering construction experience with equivalent technical competence.
  • Degree-qualified in an engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
