Job summary

Siemens Mobility is seeking a Lead Project Engineer for CIS within Rail Infrastructure in the UK. You will own engineering delivery for defined work packages, ensuring requirements, safety, and customer expectations are met across the delivery lifecycle.

You’ll often act as PEM on medium projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary inputs and ensuring robust integration, testing and assurance. The role focuses on SCADA, Information Systems and Rail telecoms, with key clients across Network Rail and

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
  • Strong delivery experience in SCADA, SISS, Control Systems or large-scale integration.
  • Proven capability across the full engineering lifecycle: requirements to commissioning.
  • Experience as Work Package Manager, technical lead or PEM on scoped elements.
  • Strong understanding of rail infrastructure environments and practices.
  • Experience with configuration, change and engineering assurance processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering delivery of work packages or PEM on medium projects, ensuring scope, schedule, quality, cost and safety objectives are met.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute the Project Engineering Management Plan (PEMP), tailoring governance to project complexity.
  • Drive system engineering lifecycle activities: requirements and integration management, design and safety, V&V, testing and commissioning.
  • Ensure all engineering work complies with standards, processes, and safety obligations (CDM/CSM).
  • Coordinate technical interfaces across disciplines, suppliers, and subcontractors for right‑first‑time integration.
  • Act as engineering representative to PM, client, suppliers, and internal teams, communicating requirements and changes.

We have an exciting opportunity to join Siemens Mobility as a Lead Project Engineer in CIS within our Rail Infrastructure business. We provide rail SCADA, Communications, Networks and Cyber Security for Mail Line, Mass Transit and Light Rail across the UK&I and Middle East, with key customer areas of Network Rail, HS2, TfL, TfGM, TfW, Irish Rail and Riyadh Metro. As a Lead Project Engineer, you will take ownership of the engineering delivery for defined work packages across one or more projects. You will ensure engineering requirements, standards, safety obligations, and customer expectations are fully met throughout the delivery lifecycle.

You will often act as the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) on medium‑scale projects or lead engineering packages on larger programmes, coordinating multi‑disciplinary inputs, managing technical risk and ensuring robust integration, testing and assurance. This role is pivotal in the successful delivery of our CIS (Communications & Information Systems) solutions.

  • Leading the engineering delivery of work packages or serve as PEM on medium projects, ensuring scope, schedule, quality, cost and safety objectives are achieved

  • Driving system engineering lifecycle activities: requirements and integration management, system design and safety, V&V, testing and commissioning readiness
  • Ensuring all engineering work complies with relevant standards, processes, technical specifications and safety obligations (CDM/CSM)
  • Coordinating technical interfaces across disciplines, suppliers, and subcontractors, ensuring “right first time” integration
  • Acting as the engineering representative to the PM, client, suppliers, and internal teams ensuring consistent communication of requirements, changes and engineering status
What you’ll need to succeed..
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Systems or related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong engineering delivery experience in SCADA, SISS, Control Systems or as part of large-scale integration projects or programme
  • Proven capability delivering across the full engineering lifecycle; requirements and integration management, design, test and commissioning
  • Experience acting as Work Package Manager, technical lead or PEM on scoped project elements
  • Strong understanding of rail infrastructure environments, construction/installation constraints and operational railway practices
  • Experience in managing configuration, change and engineering assurance processes effectively
  • Background in multi‑discipline environments such as SCADA, SISS, control systems, telecoms, M&E, civils or line wide system integration and software‑intensive systems
