Job summary

Placr Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a client in East Sussex for an experienced Production Engineer. You will support NPI, drive process improvements, and lead 8D root-cause analyses to ensure top quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a Production Engineering role.
• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
• Proven experience in manufacturing/engineering environment.
• Experience using CAD software.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

• Support NPI from design to manufacture.
• Oversee and improve manufacturing processes for efficiency and quality.
• Lead Root Cause Analysis using 8D methodologies.
• Maintain 8D/RMA system.
• Develop production operating instructions and equipment specs.
• Implement CI and cost-reduction initiatives while maintaining quality.
• Monitor production performance and identify improvements.
• Diagnose manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality teams.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures.
• Review drawings, BOMs and manufacturing routes for readiness.
• Create and maintain production documentation.
• Coordinate meetings with internal departments and project stakeholders.
• Analyze manufacturing data to improve productivity, labour efficiency and costs.
• Source materials and equipment for engineering improvements.
• Promote safe working practices.
