Job summary

Placr Recruitment is recruiting for a Production Engineer on behalf of a dynamic engineering manufacturer based in East Sussex. You will support NPI, drive process improvements and ensure safety and quality across production.

The role requires a degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years in production engineering, and hands-on experience with CAD software and MS Office. You will collaborate across design, manufacturing and quality teams to optimise methods and outcomes.

Qualifications

Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 5 years' experience within a Production Engineering role.
Proven experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Experience using CAD software.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process from design through to manufacture.
Oversee and continually improve manufacturing processes to maximise efficiency and quality.
Lead and manage Root Cause Analysis investigations using 8D methodologies.
Maintain and administer the 8D/RMA system.
Develop production operating instructions and equipment specifications.
Implement continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality standards.
Monitor production performance and identify opportunities for process improvements.
Diagnose manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
Work closely with design, manufacturing and quality teams to improve production methods.
Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with health & safety procedures and best practice.
Review engineering drawings, BOMs and manufacturing routes to ensure production readiness.
Create and maintain production documentation where required.
Coordinate meetings with internal departments and project stakeholders.
Analyse manufacturing data and recommend improvements to productivity, labour efficiency and costs.
Source materials and equipment required for engineering improvements.
Promote safe working practices and identify any unsafe conditions or procedures.
Stay up to date with advances in manufacturing technology and engineering best practice.
