Over 16 million people and businesses use Wise, which processes over £9 billion in cross-border transactions every month, saving customers over £ billion a year. We serve a wide range of customers from personal users, freelancers, small businesses, and increasingly even large enterprises and banks. Wise also offers over 50 currencies for customers to hold and convert money in. As an Associate Product Manager joining the Product Academy, you will be placed in one of our teams that both power Wise and ensure our customers have a safe and convenient experience when using us. You will build your skills in Product Management through a tailored learning program combined with real-world projects. After successful graduation from the Product Academy, you will transition into a full-time member of the Wise Product team.

Job Description
Your mission:

Wise has pioneered new ways for people and businesses to receive money across borders and currencies. Your mission is to shape the Product Risk and Compliance Program, enabling Wise to offer its acquiring services in more ways, to more Customers, in more Countries—all in a compliant manner.

This is a first line of defense, hands-on role, embedded in the Global Receive Product Squad.

You will own projects, collaborate, and make decisions in the following areas:

  • Regulatory: Stay ahead of acquiring compliance, schemes, and regulatory trends; translate and implement regulatory requirements for Product and Engineering Teams; identify when local regulatory requirements can be addressed via global controls or require prioritization.
  • Risk and controls: Challenge assumptions, coordinate evidencing controls, define global regulatory and compliance risk metrics, support regionalization of global KRIs, and ensure timely remediation of issues.
  • Reporting and external engagement: Report on the health of the Compliance & Risk Program to stakeholders; lead discussions and forums on Regulatory, Fincrime, and Risk topics; participate in industry initiatives.
This role will give you the opportunity to:
  • Grow your hands-on Fintech knowledge rapidly.
  • Keep Compliance at the core of product and engineering development in a fast-paced environment.
  • Identify regulatory and compliance issues or opportunities and lead their execution.
Qualifications
About you:
  • You have a Compliance background, ideally with experience at Financial or Payments Institutions, Law, or Consultancy Firms.
  • You have advised on and solved regulatory challenges related to card schemes or other acquiring solutions for at least 5 years.
  • Your experience covers multiple compliance areas: merchant risk, fraud, fincrime, consumer protection, segregation of funds, etc.
  • You are a proactive owner capable of managing projects from start to finish, with attention to detail.
  • You are an engaging communicator, willing to collaborate with diverse audiences.
  • You are analytical, data-driven, and able to challenge assumptions.
  • You have experience or interest in working in a fast-growing environment, applying your industry knowledge in new ways.
  • You are willing to travel as Wise has offices across different geographies.
