Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a procurement advisory professional to join the Circular Economy & Waste Advisory team. You will lead and support projects across waste infrastructure procurement, develop tender specifications, and engage with clients to review proposals.

The role also offers line management and mentoring of junior staff while contributing to business development through thought leadership.

Qualifications

• First degree in a relevant subject, preferably science, environment or engineering.
• Pertinent experience in environmental and waste services or infrastructure procurement for local authorities.
• Experience developing or contributing to documents such as technical specifications, method statements, performance management frameworks, ITTs, pricing schedules, and payment mechanisms.
• Experience of competitive dialogue or competitive procedures with negotiation.
• Understanding of UK resources and waste legislation and policy.
• Experience working with council officers.
• High level of written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to engage proactively with senior colleagues.
• Excellent time management, with ability to deliver outputs on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects using internal procedures to ensure on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
• Provide input as a technical expert across waste projects and contribute to reports.
• Attend meetings with clients, including councils, WRAP, and Defra, from inception to final reporting.
• Lead and support proposal development to ensure high quality and competitiveness.
• Develop and deliver services using robust, time- and cost-efficient methodologies.
• Build and maintain relationships with current and potential clients to grow work pipelines.
