Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a procurement advisory professional to join the Circular Economy & Waste Advisory team. You will lead and assist on projects, develop proposals, and mentor junior staff while building strong client relationships.

The role emphasizes governance, compliance with UK waste legislation, and delivering cost-effective, innovative procurement solutions across local authorities and environmental services contracts. Hybrid work with UK-wide collaboration is available.

Qualifications

• First degree in a relevant subject, preferably in the field of science, environment or engineering.
• Pertinent experience of environmental and waste services or infrastructure procurement projects for local authorities.
• Experience of developing (or contributing to) documents: Technical specification, Method statement submission requirements, Performance management framework, Invitation to tender, Pricing schedule, Payment mechanism.
• Experience of competitive dialogue and/or competitive procedure with negotiation procurement procedures.
• Understanding of resources and waste legislation and policy in the UK.
• Experience of working with Council officers.
• High levels of written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to deal proactively with senior colleagues.
• Excellent time management skills, including handling outputs at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects by applying internal procedures to ensure on-time delivery and client satisfaction.
• Provide input as a technical expert across waste projects and draft whole reports.
• Attend client meetings from inception to final reporting with various stakeholders.
• Lead and support development of high-quality, clear and competitive proposals.
• Develop and deliver services using innovative, robust, time- and cost-efficient methodologies.
• Build and maintain relationships to grow client base and project pipelines.
