Job summary

YTL Construction UK is seeking a Senior Process Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning of digester and sludge wastewater assets across the Wessex region. The role combines design input with hands-on site commissioning and handover to operations.

You will generate commissioning plans, collaborate with operations and civil teams, and supervise FATs/SATs while mentoring junior staff. A background in anaerobic digestion and COMAH environments is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in processing and commissioning anaerobic digester and sludge treatment assets in a COMAH environment.
• Degree in engineering or science (or equivalent experience).
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to translate technical issues into clear terms and produce documentation.

Responsibilities

Job description

We are looking for a water industry professional who is an expert in the commissioning of digester and sludge wastewater treatment processes.

You'll work as part of the AMP8 Delivery Programme through the full project lifecycle, from Design to Construction, Commissioning and Handover of multimillion-pound Wastewater Infrastructure projects across the Wessex Water Region.

Due to the nature of this role, we accept applicants from throughout the South West, including Bath, Taunton, Avonmouth, Yeovil, Poole and everywhere in between.

What you'll do

The Commissioning team manages and undertakes the commissioning of Wastewater

infrastructure projects throughout the Wessex region.

A Senior Process Commissioning Engineer provides input throughout the design and construction of a project, before leading the project through successful commissioning.

Typical daily tasks might involve:

• the generation of commissioning plans, which define how the new assets will be tested and brought online
• liaising with Operations and Civil construction teams to risk assess any project work, and its impact on the existing treatment process
• undertaking software FATs and SATs with automation engineers
• testing of new process equipment to confirm it works correctly, safely and meets client requirements
• analysis of analytical data from process wastewater samples to confirm the site is operating as required
• training and handover of new assets to our operations team
• mentoring of junior engineers and technicians; helping the growth of the team.

We are interested in candidates with experience in anaerobic digester and sludge treatment processes, including the complexities of working in a COMAH environment.

As you develop and grow, you will take on more of a leadership role and, therefore, increased responsibility.

The nature of commissioning on site means the role is more hands-on and site-based.

What you'll need

Experience in processing and commissioning of new anaerobic digester and sludge treatment wastewater infrastructure assets within a COMAH environment is essential.

You'll also need:

• a relevant degree in either engineering or science (e.g., biochemistry, chemical engineering); or knowledge gained through applicable experience
• a proactive engineering mindset with an enthusiasm for understanding technical processes and problem-solving
• excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to translate technical issues into simple terms
• good IT skills, with an ability to author and review technical documentation.
