Job summary

Iomart is seeking a Principal Architect - Private Cloud to lead the design and governance of VMware-based private and public cloud platforms. You will guide technology roadmaps, make high‑level decisions, and ensure solutions align with corporate strategy and partner ecosystems.

Qualifications

Experience designing private cloud platforms in an MSP environment.
Ability to translate business requirements into technically feasible solutions.
Experience documenting roadmaps and high/low level designs.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain a research and development roadmap aligned with technology and product objectives.
Translate customer requirements into reference architectures and validate functional/non-functional requirements.
Prototype and validate new capabilities in lab/pre-production environments.
Act as contributor and decision maker within the design authority.
Justify investments with business case development for portfolio strategies.
Explain how VMware, Broadcom, and Iomart tech ecosystems operate together.
Collaborate with networking, security, and storage architects to co-develop platforms.
Provide market intelligence on cloud trends and VMware roadmaps for competitive awareness.
Evangelise VMware technologies and best practices across the business.
Own architecture standards, patterns, documentation, and QA/acceptance testing frameworks.
Approve Go-Live readiness for services and major changes.
Maintain collaboration across product practices within the Group.
