Job summary

Berkshire Grey in Bedford, United Kingdom, is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to advance the Stride Shuttle Sorter. This hands-on role emphasizes system-level understanding, reliability improvement, and collaboration with controls, electrical, manufacturing, installation, and service teams.

You will own major mechanical projects from definition through release, perform root-cause analysis, document results, and guide design changes that balance performance, cost, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in designing, developing and supporting complex mechanical or electro-mechanical products.
• Ability to work autonomously while aligning with a multidisciplinary team.
• Experience taking designs through release and change-control processes, including BOMs and design reviews.
• Proven ability to investigate technical problems and deliver production-ready resolutions.

Responsibilities

• Own complex mechanical projects from problem definition through design, prototyping, validation and production support.
• Lead investigations into reliability and performance issues using structured root-cause analysis.
• Develop robust solutions addressing underlying causes and assess impact on overall product.
• Create and maintain high-quality engineering documentation and change orders.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, sourcing, quality, controls, electrical, installation, service and product management.
