Job summary

Berkshire Grey in Bedford, UK is seeking a talented Robotics Software Engineer to advance manipulation strategies for real-world systems. You will impact the full stack from drivers to the multi-robot orchestration system in our in-house proving ground.

You will train/adapt ML models for robot learning and scene understanding, develop data collection tools for policy learning, and prototype solutions for rapid stakeholder demos.

Qualifications

• Experience with ROS/ROS2 in real-world robotics projects.
• Experience building perception and control systems for manipulation tasks.
• Strong programming skills in Python and C++.
• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (PyTorch) and ML workflows.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices (Git, CI/CD).
• Experience with robot simulators and robotic sensing (RGBD) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop new approaches to manipulation problems for real-world robotics systems.
• Work across the robotics stack from drivers to multi-robot orchestration in BG’s proving ground.
• Contribute to training and adapting ML architectures for robot learning and scene understanding.
• Develop and improve robot policy learning data collection tools.
• Identify demonstrations, logs, annotations, and failures for refining models.
• Stay current with robotics advances and evaluate applicability to BG challenges.
• Collaborate with external research partners and mentor junior engineers.
• Prototype solutions quickly to create stakeholder demos and transfer to production.
