Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Principal Hydraulic Engineer to lead strategic hydraulic engineering across AMP8 and related UK water framework programmes. The role involves technical leadership, governance, and mentoring within the Hydraulic Engineering team.

You will influence major infrastructure projects and work across Warrington, Leeds or Cambridge with hybrid/flexible working arrangements. Strong background in hydraulic modelling and client relationship management is essential.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil/Mechanical/Hydraulic Engineering or related discipline.
Chartered Engineer (CEng) with UK recognition.
Extensive UK water sector hydraulic project delivery experience.
Expertise in fluid mechanics, hydraulic structures, pumping systems and transient analysis.
Experience using hydraulic modelling software (HADES, VARISM, Flow-3D).

Responsibilities

Act as senior technical authority for complex hydraulic engineering projects across multiple frameworks.
Set technical direction, governance and engineering standards for hydraulic projects.
Provide technical assurance for nationally significant water and wastewater programmes.
Build strategic client relationships and act as trusted advisor on engineering challenges.
Lead multidisciplinary technical reviews and drive innovation in hydraulic engineering methodologies.
