Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Principal Hydraulic Engineer in the UK to lead complex hydraulic projects across AMP8 programmes and beyond. You will set engineering standards, drive technical excellence and mentor engineers across a growing team in Warrington, Leeds or Cambridge.

You will build trusted client relationships, guide multi-framework strategies and influence the future direction of hydraulic engineering within the UK water sector.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Civil/Mechanical/Hydraulic Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng).
• Extensive UK water sector experience delivering complex hydraulic projects.
• Expertise in fluid mechanics, hydraulic structures, pumping systems and transient analysis.
• Experience with hydraulic modelling software such as HADES, VARISM, Flow-3D.

Responsibilities

• Acting as the senior technical authority for complex hydraulic engineering and transient analysis across multiple frameworks.
• Setting technical direction, governance and engineering standards for hydraulic engineering projects.
• Providing technical assurance and oversight for nationally significant water and wastewater infrastructure programmes.
• Building and maintaining strategic client relationships as trusted advisor on engineering challenges.
• Leading multidisciplinary technical reviews and supporting innovation in hydraulic engineering methodologies and digital delivery.
• Mentoring senior engineers and supporting succession planning across the business.
• Supporting framework leadership, strategic bids and growth of Hydraulic Engineering capability.
