The Principal Designer Role

As the Principal Designer, you will take a leading role in managing design risks and promoting best practices in health and safety across multiple projects. You will collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure that all designs are safe and compliant with CDM regulations. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on a wide range of exciting projects in one of Scotland's most vibrant cities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead the delivery of Principal Designer duties in line with CDM regulations.
2. Provide expert advice on design risk management and health and safety to clients and project teams.
3. Prepare and review pre-construction information and construction phase plans.
4. Conduct detailed design risk assessments and implement hazard elimination strategies.
5. Work closely with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure CDM compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
6. Mentor and support junior team members.

The Principal Designer

• Degree in a construction-related field.
• Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or APS) is desirable.
• Proven experience as a Principal Designer in the construction industry.
• Comprehensive understanding of CDM regulations and health and safety practices.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
