Job summary
Vertex is seeking a Senior Principal AI Engineer to design, build, and optimize the shared platform capabilities powering AI-enabled products and workflows across the enterprise. You will lead production-grade services for model integration, prompt orchestration, evaluation, observability, and governance.
The role blends strong software engineering with applied AI leadership, shaping architecture, standards, and best practices while mentoring engineers and accelerating Vertex’s AI adoption
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field with senior/leadership experience.
- Proven track record designing production-scale AI/ML platforms.
- Experience with distributed systems, APIs, and cloud-native apps.
- Experience operationalizing ML/AI/agent-based solutions in enterprise settings.
- Strong governance, testing, CI/CD, and software reliability practices.
Responsibilities
- Build/bring-your-own-agents capability and related frameworks, SDKs, and guardrails.
- Develop platform services for model integration, prompt orchestration, and tooling.
- Oversee agent lifecycle, monitoring, versioning, and retirement programs.
- Enhance developer experience with onboarding, docs, and templates.
- Define APIs, contracts, and patterns for enterprise AI platform development.
- Architect and maintain shared AI/agent platform services for enterprise products.
- Lead governance, risk management, and responsible AI practices.
- Mentor engineers and drive platform adoption across product teams.
