Unknown company is seeking an experienced Senior Primary Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high-quality primary engineering solutions for HV substations and related infrastructure. You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams.

The role offers hybrid or remote working options within the UK, with opportunities to contribute to major infrastructure and energy transition projects under supportive leadership.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in primary design within HV substations (e.g. 33kV-400kV).
• Strong knowledge of UK / international standards and utility requirements.
• Chartered or working towards Chartered Engineer status (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of primary engineering solutions for HV substations and associated infrastructure
• Produce and review primary design deliverables including layouts, GA drawings, equipment specifications, and technical reports
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, client specifications, and safety requirements
• Provide technical guidance, checking, and mentoring to junior engineers
• Interface with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
• Support project planning, cost estimates, and risk assessment
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards
