Job summary

Birmingham Children's Trust is recruiting a Senior Practitioner to join the Family Help team in Edgbaston. You will work with children, young people and families, delivering relationship-based, strengths-focused social work within statutory frameworks.

Responsibilities include Child in Need planning, statutory assessments and targeted interventions, collaborating with schools, health, police and partner agencies to safeguard children and promote wellbeing, with supervision and professional

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Experience of undertaking Child and Family Assessments and Child in Need work.
  • Strong assessment, analysis and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload whilst maintaining quality and timeliness.
  • Experience of effective multi-agency working and partnership engagement.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together guidance.
  • Commitment to relationship-based, strengths-focused social work practice.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake statutory Child and Family Assessments and Child in Need work in line with legislative requirements and Birmingham Children's Trust procedures.
  • Build effective, trusting relationships with children, young people and families to understand their experiences, strengths and needs.
  • Complete high-quality assessments, plans and reviews that are child-focused, analytical and evidence-based.
  • Develop and implement outcome-focused plans that promote safety, wellbeing and positive change.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, health professionals, police, voluntary organisations and other partner agencies to coordinate support.
  • Attend and contribute to Family Network Meetings, Team Around the Family meetings and other multi-agency forums.
  • Identify and manage risk, escalating safeguarding concerns appropriately and in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings, assessments and plans on the Trust's recording system.
  • Participate in regular reflective supervision and continuous professional development.
  • Champion the Trust's Connections Count practice approach and strengths-based interventions.
