Job summary

Birmingham Children's Trust is recruiting a Senior Practitioner to join the Family Help team in Edgbaston. You will work with children, young people and families, delivering relationship-based, strengths-focused social work within statutory frameworks.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Experience of undertaking Child and Family Assessments and Child in Need work.
  • Strong assessment, analysis and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload whilst maintaining quality and timeliness.
  • Experience of effective multi-agency working and partnership engagement.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and Working Together guidance.
  • Commitment to relationship-based, strengths-focused social work practice.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

  • Identify and manage risk, escalating safeguarding concerns appropriately and in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recordings, assessments and plans on the Trust's recording system.
  • Participate in regular reflective supervision and continuous professional development.
  • Champion the Trust's Connections Count practice approach and strengths-based interventions.

Job description

Our client Birmingham Children's Trust is looking for a Senior Practitioner to join their Family Help team.

Family Help is Birmingham Children's Trust's integrated approach to supporting children and families earlier, reducing unnecessary handovers between services and promoting collaborative, trauma-informed and strengths-based practice. The service works within local communities to ensure children receive the right help at the right time.

The Family Help Team is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our Edgbaston District Team. You will work directly with children, young people and families who require support through Child in Need planning, statutory assessments and targeted interventions. Working within Birmingham Children's Trust's Connections Count practice framework, you will undertake relationship-based social work, ensuring the child's voice remains central to assessment, planning and intervention

Key Responsibilities
