Job summary

Reed in Canterbury, Kent is seeking a Practice Accountant to oversee a substantial client portfolio and support the continued success of the firm. This role focuses on accounts, taxation and advisory work, mentoring two Bookkeepers and delivering high-quality client service.

You will review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and management accounts, attend client meetings, and identify opportunities to strengthen relationships while upholding deadlines and accuracy.

Qualifications

• ACA or ACCA qualified or equivalent.
• Extensive experience within an accountancy practice environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation, taxation and advisory services.
• Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to lead by example and support junior team members effectively.
• Professional, confident and credible in front of both clients and colleagues.
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a diverse portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients
• Act as the main point of contact, delivering a high standard of client service and practical advice
• Review statutory accounts, corporation tax returns, management accounts and related compliance work
• Attend client meetings and provide proactive commercial and strategic guidance
• Identify opportunities to add value and strengthen long-term client relationships
• Support, mentor and supervise two Bookkeepers
• Ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with relevant deadlines
• Contribute to the ongoing growth and success of the practice through a hands-on approach
