Reed Practice in Colchester is recruiting an experienced Practice Senior Accountant to join a highly regarded independent firm.

You will manage a diverse client portfolio, deliver high-quality accounting and advisory services, and help develop junior staff while building strong client relationships and contributing to the firm’s growth.

Competenze

• ACA or ACCA qualification in practice with UK regulation.
• Strong knowledge of FRS 102 Section 1A and accounts prep.
• Experience with VAT and payroll advantageous.
• Experience with cloud software (Xero/Sage/QuickBooks).
• Excellent organisation and communication; client-focused.

Mansioni

• Prepare year-end accounts, corporation and self-assessment tax work with VAT returns for various client types.
• Support, mentor, and develop junior team members.

Following a sustained period of growth, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented practice Senior Accountant to join their friendly, ambitious, and technically strong team.

You’ll become a trusted advisor to a varied portfolio of clients, providing valuable commercial insight and building meaningful relationships while working in a firm where your expertise, ideas, and contribution are genuinely recognised.

As a senior Accountant, reporting directly to the Partners, you’ll play a pivotal role in building strong relationships with, and delivering high-quality accounting and advisory services to a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors. Your responsibilities will include:

• Acting as a trusted business partner to clients, providing practical accounting, taxation, and business advisory support.
• Preparing year-end accounts, corporation and self-assessment tax with VAT returns for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies in accordance with FRS 102 Section 1A.
• Supporting, mentoring, and developing junior members of the team.
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant accounting standards and legislation.
• Assisting with payroll and audit assignments when required.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• ACA or ACCA qualification trained in practice, working to UK regulations.
• Strong technical knowledge of accounts preparation under FRS 102 Section 1A.
• Good working knowledge of VAT, with payroll experience being advantageous.
• Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks,
• Excellent organisation and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong client-facing and relationship management abilities.
• A positive, collaborative approach with a genuine desire to support colleagues.
