Job summary

NES Group Ltd is seeking a Senior / Principal Consultant (Power Systems and Protection) to join its growing Power Systems team in the UK. You will lead protection studies for HV/EHV networks, undertake earthing design, and provide robust technical solutions across energy infrastructure projects.

Working with multidisciplinary teams, you will develop modelling, perform fault analysis, produce high-quality reports, and mentor junior engineers while helping to advance engineering standards and

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience carrying out power system protection studies for HV/EHV networks.
• Experience delivering earthing design and safety assessments.
• Strong knowledge of protection schemes, relay coordination and fault analysis.
• Understanding of UK Grid Code and relevant standards.
• Analytical, reporting and delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver protection studies for HV and EHV networks, including protection coordination, relay settings, and fault level assessments.
• Undertake earthing design and safety studies for substations and grid-connected infrastructure.
• Perform technical modelling and analysis using power system software.
• Produce high-quality technical reports, calculations and recommendations.
• Support project planning, proposals and bid submissions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop engineering solutions.
• Contribute to the development of engineering standards and best practice.
• Manage project deliverables in line with technical, quality, programme and commercial objectives.
• Support and mentor junior engineers where required.
