Job summary
SSEN Transmission in Scotland is seeking a Senior System Performance Engineer to lead power system studies for integrating low carbon generation on the transmission network in the north of Scotland. Qualifications
- Experience in power system analysis and planning in transmission.
- Expertise in at least three areas: load flow, dynamic RMS, EMT, or power quality.
- Experience with PSCAD, PSS/E, Power Factory, and Matlab/Simulink; Python knowledge advantageous.
- Ability to write clear technical reports for senior management.
- Relevant professional registration or Chartered Engineer status preferred.
Responsibilities
- Define and deliver detailed simulation studies to support connections of renewables, FACTS devices, HVDC links and railway feeders.
- Provide technical leadership within the team and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- Lead scoping and delivery of innovation projects to keep modelling and monitoring at the frontier.
- Support network operation by analysing events and disturbances.
- Represent SSEN Transmission in external meetings and industry workgroups.
