Job summary

SSE plc is recruiting a Senior System Performance Engineer to lead power system studies and modelling for the north of Scotland transmission network. The role focuses on EMT simulations, renewable integration, and cutting-edge analysis tools.

You will mentor colleagues, scope innovation projects and contribute to industry collaborations, with a base in Perth or Glasgow and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Experience in power system analysis and design for transmission systems.
• Experience with EMT simulation and transient studies.
• Proficiency with PSCAD, PSS/E, PowerFactory and MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver detailed simulation studies for renewable integration and HVDC/FACTS.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the team.
• Lead innovation projects to advance system modelling and monitoring capabilities.
• Support network operation through event and disturbance analysis.
• Represent SSEN Transmission in external meetings and industry groups.
