Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking experienced Senior Planners to lead and develop a high‑performing planning function across a portfolio of transmission projects across Scotland. You will oversee complex schedules from early development through delivery, energisation and handover, guiding teams to optimise performance.

The role requires strong Primavera P6 expertise, experience in major infrastructure lifecycles, and the ability to collaborate with project managers, contractors and site teams.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in planning for large infrastructure or energy projects.
• Experience leading planners/team.
• Knowledge of Primavera P6 and similar tools.
• Understanding of NEC3 or FIDIC contracts.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, support and develop a team of planners, helping to create a positive, high-performing planning environment across a portfolio of Transmission projects.
• Oversee the development, management and analysis of robust project schedules across the full lifecycle, from early development through to delivery, construction, commissioning and energisation.
• Provide technical planning guidance to project teams, using your experience to identify key schedule risks, impacts, opportunities and practical mitigation actions.
• Work closely with project managers, contractors, commercial teams, site teams and wider stakeholders to ensure programmes are realistic, joined up and able to support delivery decisions.
• Produce clear reporting and performance insight, including earned value and progress information, to help project and business leaders understand status, risks and areas for action.
