Job summary

National Grid is hiring a Senior Power System Engineer based in Warwick with hybrid working options. You will lead technical assessments and strategic studies to support decarbonisation and major transmission investments across Great Britain.

You will model, analyse, and develop innovative network solutions, collaborate with stakeholders, and mentor engineers while ensuring governance and industry standards are met.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Significant experience in transmission planning, strategic network planning, system studies, or power system analysis.
• Knowledge of NETS SQSS, Grid Code, and CUSC.
• Experience with power system analysis tools such as PowerFactory, PSS®E, PSCAD.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic network planning studies to identify future transmission system needs and reinforcement requirements.
• Lead boundary capability assessments and transfer capability studies for future network constraints and opportunities.
• Develop technical recommendations to support transmission investment decisions and business cases.
• Assess impact of generation, storage, demand growth, data centres, hydrogen, electrification, and other technologies.
• Develop, model and evaluate innovative network solutions including topology optimisation, HVDC, FACTS.
