The Nuffield Department of Women’s and Reproductive Health is looking for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join the internationally recognised Oxford Endometriosis CaRe Centre (EndoCaRe). You will contribute to an exciting translational research programme, working in collaboration with our industrial partner, Gedeon Richter, to translate human genetic discoveries into potential new treatments for endometriosis. You will lead research activities to validate novel therapeutic targets using patient-derived endometriosis tissues, including gene and protein expression analysis, primary cell culture and genome editing techniques. You will develop and optimise experimental protocols, investigate disease-relevant cellular processes and work closely with clinicians, geneticists and computational scientists. You will also contribute to scientific publications, presentations, manage research activities and budgets, and provide supervision and guidance to other members of the research team.
You will hold a PhD/DPhil in cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, reproductive biology or a related discipline, together with postdoctoral research experience in genome editing methodologies. You will have a strong publication record, including first-author papers in peer-reviewed journals, and experience of gene and protein expression analysis in primary tissues, tissue culture and in vitro functional assays. You will demonstrate the ability to independently plan and manage research projects and budgets, supervise graduate research students and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience of bioinformatic analysis of genomic or transcriptomic data is also essential. Previous experience of working with primary human tissues, organoids, genetic manipulation of primary cells or single-cell and spatial sequencing data would be advantageous.
Applications for flexible working arrangements are welcomed and will be considered in line with business needs. Please note that occasional out-of-hours working may be required to accommodate the timing of patient tissue collection.
