We are seeking a Postdoctoral Scientist to lead cutting-edge research into biomarkers and disease mechanisms to enhance therapeutic development for RNUopathies, including ReNU syndrome. Based within the Big Data Institute (BDI) and the Institute of Developmental & Regenerative Medicine (IDRM), you will join a multidisciplinary team investigating therapeutic approaches for rare neurodevelopmental disorders caused by variants in small nuclear RNA (snRNA) genes.
You will lead bioinformatic and statistical analysis of large-scale genomic and transcriptomic datasets from human samples, cell lines, and mouse models; developing and implementing novel analytical approaches where appropriate; leading the research project; collaborating with internal and external researchers; contributing to the supervision of MSc and PhD students; maintaining high standards of data quality, integrity, and documentation; disseminating findings through publications, presentations, and conferences; engaging with patient advocacy groups; and supporting public engagement and outreach activities. It is essential that you have a PhD/DPhil (or are close to completion) in a relevant field such as genomics, genetics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistics together with a track record of contributing to peer-reviewed publications and presenting research findings at seminars, conferences, and scientific meetings. Proficiency in programming languages such as R and/or Python is required, alongside the ability to independently manage day-to-day research activities, take ownership of projects, and deliver high-quality outputs to agreed deadlines. You should have experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare publications, create clear and informative data visualisations, and present research to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
This position is offered full time on a fixed term contract for two years.
£39,424 to £47,779 with a discretionary range to £53,483 p.a. (pro rata). Research Grade 7. This is inclusive of a pensionable Oxford University Weighting of £1,730 per year (pro rata).
