Job summary

Preply is seeking a Staff Platform Product Manager to own the strategy for platform capabilities that reduce developer friction, improve reliability, and accelerate delivery. You will define platform as a product for engineering teams, balancing flexibility with standardization and guiding cross-team alignment.

You’ll work closely with EMs and Staff+ engineers, embedding with engineering teams to drive the SDLC transformation and measure impact through reliability and productivity metrics.

Qualifications

• Strong product thinking combined with technical literacy in software engineering, developer tooling, or systems.
• Experience with highly technical internal products (platforms, tooling, infra, or developer-facing systems).
• Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and conflicting priorities.
• Proven ability to challenge priorities and drive alignment across internal stakeholders.
• Bias for leverage, defaults, and standards, grounded in standardization.
• Familiarity with reviewing RFCs and architecture proposals at a conceptual, outcome-oriented level.
• Nice-to-have: hands-on experience as software engineer or Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities

• Maintain product charters for platform products, including users, problem statements, non-goals, and success metrics.
• Define and own the vision, roadmap, and OKRs for core platform capabilities.
• Identify and prioritize developer pain points using qualitative and quantitative signals with focus on impact.
• Translate platform needs into clear product requirements and priorities.
• Partner with engineering to evaluate technical trade-offs and solutions, focusing on scalable platform capabilities.
• Drive adoption of platform standards across teams.
• Define and track success metrics such as developer productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Align platform investments with company growth and scaling goals.
• Run discovery through developer interviews, Dev Experience surveys, support interruptions, incident reviews, and platform metrics (e.g. DORA, CI/CD reliability).
• Lead migrations and deprecations with empathy, clarity, and consistency.
• Work closely with EMs and Staff+ engineers, spending time embedded with engineering teams.
