Job summary

Motorway is building a new Developer Experience team to improve how engineers build, deploy, and operate services on our container platform. You’ll help evolve AWS-based production platforms, enhance monitoring, and reduce toil through automation.

As a senior engineer, you’ll mentor others, operate with strong judgement, and contribute to a scalable, reliable, and secure developer experience across the org. Hybrid working is supported.

Qualifications

• Proven track record Owning and operating web platforms in production at scale.
• Strong experience with AWS in a production environment.
• Experience defining meaningful metrics, monitoring, and alerting for web platforms.
• Experience with platform security controls and observability.
• Experience designing and operating CD/CI systems with zero-downtime deployments.
• Experience responding to production incidents in an on-call environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve AWS environments and shared platform infrastructure focusing on reliability, scalability, and ease of use for product teams.
• Design and build self-service tooling for engineers to deploy and operate services correctly.
• Automate common workflows and standardise infrastructure using code and platform abstractions.
• Define and implement platform monitoring and alerting standards with meaningful signals.
• Enable product teams to use shared metrics to improve service reliability across environments.
• Own and evolve continuous delivery and release capabilities for faster, safe deployments.
• Stay current with best practices in hosting, CD, and developer experience.
• Upskill and mentor other engineers in the team.
