Job summary

Viasat is seeking an experienced Platform Architect in the UK to translate product requirements into scalable platforms and solutions. You will lead cross-domain architecture, collaborate with Product Management, Global Operations and Engineering, and mentor engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable technologies.

The role emphasizes balancing technical excellence with commercial timelines, and guiding architectural governance across multiple domains and programmes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of professional software development with end-to-end solution architecture.
• Hands-on experience of networking and SD-WAN, virtualization and cloud (public, private, hybrid).
• Experience with 3GPP standards including 5G NR, NTN and NB-IoT.
• Proven domain-driven design, microservices, distributed systems and event-driven architecture.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end cross-domain architecture and translate product requirements into platforms and solutions.
• Assess feasibility of opportunities and support business cases with impact analyses.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams and act as trusted advisor to Product Management.
• Gather requirements with Product Management, Business Analysts and Operations to maximise reuse and optimise delivery.
• Stay aware of emerging technologies and align them to company goals; evaluate buy/build/rent options.
• Shape the technology roadmap and provide leadership for platforms, products and services across domains.
• Maintain architectural documentation and ensure scalable, reliable and operable solutions.
