Job summary

Carrington West are assisting their local authority client in the North of England in the search for a Principal Planning Officer to join the Development Management team on an initial 3 month contract (extensions likely).

The successful candidate will manage a caseload of large-scale residential schemes (circa 100 units) and mixed-use retail and commercial schemes, with strong knowledge of planning legislation and national guidance. MRTPI is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• Experience as a development management case officer in a local authority planning department or equivalent private practice.
• Strong technical knowledge of planning legislation and national guidance.
• Experience of working in a rural area would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of large-scale residential schemes (circa 100 units) and mixed-use retail/commercial schemes.
• Hit the ground running with development management duties and teamwork.
• Demonstrate good technical knowledge of relevant planning legislation and national guidance.
