Job summary

Carrington West are assisting an Oxfordshire based local authority in their search for a Principal Planning Officer to join their Development Management team. This will be offered on an initial 6-month contract, then rolling, remote working with site visits.

The role requires a qualified Town Planner with current experience assessing planning applications, especially Major Applications and Large Strategic Sites, including Development Consent Order work.

Qualifications

• Experience assessing planning applications.
• Experience with Major Applications and Large Strategic Sites.
• Experience with Development Consent Order applications.
• Ability to communicate planning policy and legislation.
• Willingness to undertake site visits.

Responsibilities

• Deal with pre-applications, applications and appeals and present recommendations to Planning Committee.
• Advise public and professionals on planning policy and legislation.
• Ensure planning decisions are made with integrity.
• Provide information to council, government bodies and the public on planning matters.
• Attend Planning Committee meetings and site visits.
• Prepare appeal statements for the Planning Inspectorate.
• Keep abreast of planning legislation and changes.
• Support Team Leader in delivering objectives.
