Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Planning and Highway Lawyer to support the Environment & Property legal team. You will advise on planning and highway matters, attend committees, and contribute to major development projects.

The role emphasizes practical legal advice, strategic decision-making, and collaboration with officers and Members across Leicestershire. Flexible working options may be discussed.

Qualifications

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with entitlement to practice.
• Experience in planning and highway law advising at senior officer/Member level.
• Drafting and negotiating S106 agreements and highway infrastructure agreements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior officers and elected Members on complex planning and highway matters.
• Attend planning committees and provide advocacy on enforcement matters.
• Draft and negotiate S106 and highway agreements.
• Support development proposals, major projects and infrastructure work.
• Utilise IT systems for case management and time recording.
