Job summary

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an experienced Planning and Highway Lawyer to join its Environment & Property legal team at County Hall, Glenfield. You will advise senior officers and elected Members on complex planning and highway matters that shape growth, infrastructure and communities across Leicestershire.

The post holder will draft and negotiate S106 and highway agreements, attend planning committees, and provide timely, client-focused advice while staying current with planning

Qualifications

• Professional qualification as an admitted Solicitor, Barrister entitled to practice, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives or Associate/Graduate Member working towards admission as a Fellow.
• Demonstrable recent experience of planning and highway law, advising at planning committees and drafting S106/Highways/Infrastructure agreements.
• Up-to-date knowledge of S106, S38/S278, flooding/drainage, rights of way, road traffic, Commons and Village Greens matters.

Responsibilities

• Advise senior officers and Members on planning and highway matters.
• Draft and negotiate planning agreements and highway infrastructure agreements.
• Provide legal advice at senior officer/Member level and appear at planning committees where required.
• Support planning and development activity with highways/infrastructure considerations.
