Job summary

Carrington West is seeking a Planning Enforcement Officer for a Local Authority client in the South East Coastal Region on an initial 3‑month contract. The role involves investigating breaches, site visits, gathering evidence, and progressing enforcement cases to resolution.

You will work independently, manage your workload, and provide professional planning enforcement advice within a Local Authority setting.

Qualifications

• Experience working within a Local Authority planning enforcement team.
• Experience investigating alleged breaches of planning control.
• Ability to manage a caseload independently and progress enforcement matters effectively.
• Strong communication skills with applicants, agents, members of the public and internal stakeholders.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site visits.

My Local Authority Client in the South East Coastal Region is looking to source an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to join their Planning department on an interim basis.

The Role: This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Planning Enforcement Officer to support a busy Local Planning Authority and assist with the investigation and management of planning enforcement matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating alleged breaches of planning control, undertaking site visits, gathering evidence, liaising with applicants, agents and members of the public, and supporting the progression of enforcement cases through to resolution. You will need to be confident working independently, managing your own workload, and providing professional planning enforcement advice within a Local Authority environment.

Requirements:

• Previous experience working within a Local Authority Planning Enforcement team


• Experience investigating alleged breaches of planning control


• Ability to manage a caseload independently and progress enforcement matters effectively


• Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with applicants, agents, members of the public and internal stakeholders


• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle required due to regular site visits

Working Arrangements:

The successful candidate will be required to undertake regular site visits across the authority area, with weekly site attendance required as part of the role. The position offers a flexible working arrangement, with a mixture of remote working, office attendance and site-based activity. The role is offered on a full-time basis, working 37 hours per week, with an immediate start available.
