Job summary

Park Avenue Recruitment is working with a Local Authority in Gloucestershire to recruit an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer on an interim basis. The role involves managing a varied caseload of planning enforcement investigations and providing expert advice to the Planning Service.

The ideal candidate will have recent Local Authority planning enforcement experience, with beneficial exposure to rural enforcement such as barn conversions and countryside developments.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of planning enforcement investigations from initial complaint through to resolution

• Liaise with residents, landowners, applicants, councillors and legal teams
• Provide professional advice on complex enforcement cases and support the wider Planning Service

Job description

I am working with a Local Authority in Gloucestershire who are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Enforcement Officer to join their team on an interim basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced enforcement professional to work within a predominantly rural district, managing a varied caseload and supporting the delivery of an effective enforcement service.

The Role:

• Manage a caseload of planning enforcement investigations from initial complaint through to resolution
• Investigate breaches of planning control and assess expediency for formal action
• Prepare reports and draft enforcement notices where required
• Undertake regular site visits across the district
• Work on a range of rural planning matters, including barn conversions, countryside developments and other rural enforcement issues
• Liaise with residents, landowners, applicants, councillors and legal teams
• Provide professional advice on complex enforcement cases and support the wider Planning Service

Contract Details:

• Duration: Initial 6-month contract
• Rate: Up to £50 per hour
• Working Arrangement: Hybrid working available - 1 day a week onsite.
• Start Date: ASAP
• Requirement: Recent Local Authority Planning Enforcement experience is essential. Experience dealing with rural enforcement matters, including barn conversions and countryside developments, would be highly beneficial. Candidates should be willing to undertake site visits, although attendance at the council's weekly office day is not considered essential.
