Job description

About the role

At Balfour Beatty, we’re proud to deliver the infrastructure that connects communities, supports economic growth and helps shape the world around us. From major civil engineering projects to essential infrastructure improvements, our work makes a lasting difference.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Planner to join our Regional Civils team, supporting our diverse portfolio of projects across the South Coast. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex civil engineering projects, bringing your planning expertise to a team that thrives on collaboration, innovation and delivering results.

As a Senior Planner, you’ll take the lead in developing and managing detailed construction programmes, ensuring projects are effectively planned, resources are optimised and key milestones are achieved. Working closely with project teams and key stakeholders, you’ll provide strategic planning insight, identify potential risks and opportunities, and help drive efficient, successful project outcomes.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Planner you will:

  • Produce and present clear programme reports, highlighting progress, key issues, dependencies and potential impacts on delivery.
  • Support project teams in managing change, assessing programme implications and developing recovery plans where required.
  • Mentor and support less experienced planners, sharing knowledge and promoting consistent planning standards and best practice.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal teams, clients and supply chain partners to ensure a coordinated approach to project planning
Who we're looking for

You will have the following:

  • Proven experience developing and managing complex construction programmes.
  • Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques, including critical path analysis and programme risk management.
  • Experience using industry-standard planning software, such as Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • The ability to interpret technical information, identify programme challenges and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

- 25 days paid annual leave (pro rata)
