Job summary

Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering is seeking a Senior Planner for the Sizewell C project. You will lead development and management of complex construction schedules, ensuring resources and timelines are optimised and providing mentorship to junior planners.

You will produce compliant programmes, define planning scope, develop strategies for tenders, prep tender programmes, manage baselines and change control, coordinate resources, monitor performance, and use KPIs to drive informed decisions.

Role purpose: Leads the development and management of complex construction project schedules, ensuring optimal resource utilization and adherence to timelines. Aims to provide strategic planning oversight, mentorship to less experienced planners and contribute to project success by implementing advanced scheduling techniques. The Senior Planner's scope encompasses high-level project planning and coordination, playing a key role in achieving efficient and successful construction outcomes.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Planner, you’ll be responsible for:

• Producing compliant, high-quality project programmes;
• Defining planning scope, key constraints and contract requirements;
• Developing efficient design, procurement and construction strategies for tenders;
• Preparing tender programmes, planning philosophies, presentations and reports;
• Producing, managing and maintaining contract programmes;
• Assessing critical paths and recommending corrective action;
• Establishing project baselines and managing change control processes;
• Coordinating resources and monitoring supplier and subcontractor performance;

The successful candidate will have the following skills, qualities and experience:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict-resolution abilities;
• Proven leadership and time-management skills;
• A strong understanding of project data, processes and reporting;
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA;
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction planning, scheduling, contracts and risk management;
• Experience producing and managing programmes for complex construction projects; and
• A successful track record of project delivery and stakeholder relationship management.
