Job summary

ALTEN is seeking an experienced Control System Design Engineer to deliver PES-based control system designs for complex projects in a highly regulated environment. You will work from concept through handover in Warrington.

The role requires an Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or equivalent, at least 3 years of PES experience, and strong communication skills. You will collaborate across disciplines, support commissioning, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or equivalent professional qualification.
• At least 3 years' experience delivering PES-based Control System designs on multidisciplinary projects from concept through to handover.
• Working knowledge of relevant engineering standards and design processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience providing technical support during commissioning.
• Willingness to support and mentor early‑career engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review PES-based Control System designs and modifications.
• Produce high-quality CE&I design documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and project requirements.
• Provide technical support during commissioning activities.
• Participate in design reviews and technical assurance activities.
• Support and mentor junior engineers where appropriate.
• Work closely with a range of engineering disciplines to deliver project objectives.
