Job summary

ALTEN UK is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in Derby, Manchester or Warrington, supporting nuclear and safety-critical projects. You will lead a team of electrical engineers across multiple programs, ensuring technical excellence and timely delivery.

The role requires 7–14 years of experience, a degree in Electrical Engineering, and ability to engage with international grid interfaces. On-site work is three days per week with flexible arrangements; BPSS clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
• Experience leading electrical engineering teams or workstreams.
• Significant electrical engineering experience within power systems or nuclear/energy sectors.
• Experience with international grid interconnections; Eastern European links preferred.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards.
• Ability to lead technical discussions at project/client level.
• Knowledge of grid code compliance and protection philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers across multiple projects.
• Act as the technical authority for electrical design decisions; mentor engineers.
• Own the electrical deliverables schedule; ensure targets met.
• Represent electrical discipline in reviews, client meetings, and design authority boards.
• Oversee design and delivery of electrical power systems and grid integration.
• Review vendor submissions and design documentation; participate in technical reviews.
