Role Summary:

The main purpose of the role is to offer technical knowledge and input into resolving pensions related project work. Working with the team to support benefit calculation, remediation work and pensions regulatory changes.

You must have a background in pensions related work, calculations, pensions administration and be able to work effectively and develop positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across Data Services, Retirement Solutions, EQ group and other organisations. Supporting our Regulatory Change function in pension calculations and rectification work across a multitude of pension projects such as GMP Equalisation, benefit rectifications, LTA abolition and Pensions Dashboard.

Core Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

  • To manage and take accountability for complex pensions projects across pensions rectification and calculation work by maintaining project plans, actions log, issues, and a risks log. Client reports, meetings, and MS-Teams calls - prepare for, attend, create agendas, and record accurate minutes. Review and sign-off Workday timesheet entries for projects you are responsible for.
  • Perform project management role to ensure project delivery is aligned with roadmap. Prioritising and organising workloads to ensure deadlines are met, and standards of delivery maintained. Ensure work completed in a commercially sound manner and complies with contract or administration practices / agreements which are already in place.
  • Function as a point of reference on complex, technical and legislative queries. Monitor, check and audit casework to ensure it is fit for purpose whilst identify training and development needs for the team. Providing ongoing training and coaching. Supporting Head of Delivery/Operations regarding project and team members performance.
  • Attend client meetings and take the lead from a project delivery perspective. Engage with clients on all aspects of service/project delivery.
  • To lead training sessions relating to project and pensions topics. To identify areas within the team that require development. To develop technical and process knowledge to business area staff.
  • Set quality targets for project work, monitor and report.
  • Ensure all project tasks are supported by adequate process notes and guidance. Templates that are used should be business compliant. Check and sign-off process and technical documents.
  • To demonstrate and effectively communicate with clients and team members an in-depth awareness of Trust Deed and Rules, industry regulations and current pensions legislation.

Skills, Capabilities and Attributes:

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following

  • Ideally working towards Pension Management Institute or Charted Insurance Institute.
  • Exceptional awareness and understanding of pension legislation and be able to lead discussions with clients on technical topics.
  • PRINCE2 or Agile an advantage.
  • Expert awareness of project management methodologies.
  • Able to lead client meetings and support both delivery of projects and technical queries.
  • Understand all aspects of pension scheme design and engage with clients in discussion of scheme design issues.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to relate to people at all levels.
  • Able to multitask and under own initiative.
  • Self-motivated and ability to encourage others.
  • Be familiar with all types of calculations, able to carry out independent tests of reasonableness and engage with clients and their advisors or other service providers.
  • Able to write and sign-off process notes.
  • Ideally with previous knowledge of Compendia of all table/sets and fields.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft products with emphasis on experienced Excel user. Desirable, but not essential, knowledge of VBA and macros enabled functionality.
