Job summary

Derbyshire Pension Fund in Derbyshire is seeking an experienced Senior Pensions Officer to lead the Retirements & Deaths team within Member Services. You will oversee retirement and death benefit administration for LGPS members, ensuring accurate calculations and timely payments while complying with regulations.

You will provide technical guidance, drive service improvements and collaborate with employers and stakeholders to enhance the member experience.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Local Government Pension Scheme administration.
• Detailed knowledge of LGPS legislation and pension administration practices.
• Experience of leading, managing or mentoring colleagues within a pension administration environment.
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to interpret and apply complex pension regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage effectively with members, employers and stakeholders.
• A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
• A proactive approach to service improvement and change management.

Responsibilities

• Leading, managing and developing a team of pensions professionals.
• Ensuring the timely and accurate processing of retirement and death benefit cases.
• Monitoring team performance and service standards to achieve operational targets.
• Providing expert technical advice on LGPS regulations and pension administration matters.
• Supporting the implementation of legislative and procedural changes.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, efficiency and service delivery.
• Managing complex and sensitive member enquiries and escalations.
• Collaborating with other operational teams to ensure a seamless member journey.
