Job summary

XPS Group is seeking a Senior Pensions Manager for our Defined Benefits pensions practice in London. The role combines strategic oversight, team leadership, and client-facing responsibilities across a portfolio of pension schemes.

You will lead administration, ensure quality service delivery, and contribute to business development while mentoring junior staff and ensuring governance and billing processes are followed.

Qualifications

• Expert knowledge of pensions administration activities and apply this knowledge to any scheme.
• Experience in Defined Benefit schemes including leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers, monthly processing, benefit statements, scheme renewal and pension increases.
• Thorough knowledge of pensions legislation framework and ability to stay informed of changes.
• Supervisory, leadership and management experience including performance monitoring, appraisals and recruitment.
• Third party pensions administration experience preferred, or strong in-house experience.
• Presentational experience for client pitches, trustee meetings and account development.
• Numerical aptitude demonstrated by work or academic achievements.
• Project management experience for pension administration projects.
• IT proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead pensions administration services for the assigned client portfolio with prime accountability for service delivery, quality, profit and sustainability.
• Oversee day-to-day client relationships with trustees and corporate clients and participate in meetings.
• Participate in marketing initiatives, new business activities, pitches and events to generate additional income.
• Provide expert pensions advice and stay updated on technical and legislative developments.
• Manage projects such as renewals, benefit statements, pension increases and trustees’ reports.
• Mentor, train and develop pensions administration team members; ensure governance tracking is up to date.
• Ensure accurate admin billing, recording time and timely invoicing.
• Report progress and issues at regular governance and senior management meetings.
