Job summary

TPF Recruitment is recruiting a Payroll Supervisor in Canterbury, United Kingdom, to oversee the day-to-day delivery of payroll services and supervise the payroll team within a respected practice.

You will manage weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for owner-managed businesses, ensuring accuracy, deadlines, and compliance with current legislation, while developing junior colleagues and supporting department growth.

Qualifications

• Strong payroll experience, ideally in an accountancy practice, payroll bureau or client-focused environment.
• Experience reviewing payrolls and supervising junior colleagues.
• Excellent technical payroll knowledge and understanding of current legislation.
• Organised and accurate with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls on time.
• Supervise and support payroll team members, review their work and guide them.
• Act as a key client contact and respond to payroll queries promptly.
• Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and submissions.
• Oversee workplace pension and automatic enrolment requirements, including submissions.
• Assist in training and developing junior payroll staff.
• Support Payroll Manager to improve systems and department growth.
