Job summary

Moray Council in Elgin is seeking a Senior Payments Officer to manage payments systems, performance metrics, and quality control across finance operations. This role supports the Payments team and may adapt to service needs as directed by management.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in a large finance function, strong IT skills, and the ability to implement new procedures while managing staff workloads to tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Significant experience within a large finance section.
• Experience in finance system administration.
• A high level of IT literacy with competence in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Able to organise personal workload and assist in meeting deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day system maintenance and administration of the processing function.
• Develop operational procedures and document them.
• Review procedural standards for the area.
• Participate in staff training and development.
• Support the Assistant Payments Manager with team direction and support.
• Assist in service provision reviews to ensure best value.
• Handle enquiries, both written and verbal.
