Job summary

Xe.com is seeking a senior backend engineer in Bracknell to own end-to-end backend services for cross-border payments. You will design, implement, and operate multi-currency platforms, partnering with product, compliance, and operations to deliver reliable solutions.

You will mentor engineers, influence architectural decisions, and embrace AI-assisted coding tools to modernize the stack while ensuring scalable, compliant, and observable systems.

Qualifications

• 6 to 10+ years building production backend services, end-to-end.
• Strong backend proficiency in C# / .NET; other OOP languages welcomed.
• SQL and relational database fundamentals.
• Writing and maintaining tests.
• Daily use of agentic coding tools across the SDLC.
• Production experience with AWS and modern deployment practices.
• Strong system design and architecture experience, microservices or SOA.

Responsibilities

• Design and own backend services that move money and manage multi-currency balances.
• Lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations from framing to launch.
• Lead the build of partner integrations and settlement infrastructure.
• Own production health, reliability, observability, on-call, and incident response.
• Lead design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor mid-level engineers.
• Use AI coding tools daily and drive modernization of legacy services.
