Job summary

West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 7 Paediatric Practice Development Nurse to join our Paediatric Services. You will provide expert clinical leadership, specialist paediatric advice and lead education, induction, preceptorship and skills development.

The post involves driving quality improvement, audit and governance, implementing evidence-based practice and national guidance, across Watford General Hospital and Hemel Hempstead sites.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
• Post-registration paediatric nursing experience.
• APLS or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Work across Paediatric Services at Watford General Hospital and Hemel Hempstead, providing practice development, education and clinical support.
• Collaborate with the Paediatric Matron and senior nursing team to deliver safe, effective, high-quality paediatric care.
• Develop effective working relationships with Ward Managers, nursing and medical teams, AHPs, governance, IPC, safeguarding, education and workforce teams, and external partners.
• Support the implementation of agreed clinical, educational and service priorities across paediatric areas.
• Contributing to workforce development, clinical governance, patient safety and service improvement.
• Maintaining links with educational institutions and regional networks.
• Supporting communication, escalation and coordination across services and professional boundaries.
• Working flexibly across paediatric areas and Trust sites according to service requirements.
