Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking an Electrical Technical Principal to lead HV transmission design across major projects in the UK and abroad. The role requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and active client interfacing in a hybrid work model.

You will drive technical excellence, ensure compliance with standards, and guide project teams through feasibility to detailed design stages, delivering high-impact power infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer status.
• Desirable: National Grid CDAE/LCDAE and TP141 accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical discipline lead design input for HV transmission projects, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Prepare/review clarifications to RFIs and review technical deliverables; provide guidance to the engineering team.
• Lead delivery for primary electrical design across project life cycles (feasibility, FEED, planning, detailed design).
• Collaborate with other discipline leads and stakeholders to meet technical and commercial requirements.
• Interface with clients, attend progress meetings and workshops as required.
• Ensure designs comply with client standards and safety/environmental regulations; troubleshoot issues during design and construction.
